Sharing and sunshine in Dun Laoghaire
We had a great turnout for our Skill Share event in Dun Laoghaire on Sunday 24 May, with four boats and 18 participants taking to the water.
Blessed with fine weather, sunshine, and a fresh breeze (sun cream very much in demand!), the day offered ideal conditions. Members worked on a range of practical skills including close-quarters manoeuvring / ‘parking’, man overboard recovery, and anchoring.
We were particularly pleased to welcome eight members who joined without boats and were happily accommodated across the crews – exactly the kind of sharing spirit the event is all about.
Before and after sailing, we gathered at the Royal Irish Yacht Club, giving everyone a chance to meet, mix across boats, and connect with fellow members. It was a very enjoyable and productive day, and a great way to get ready for the season ahead.
Thanks to everyone who came along and helped make it such an enjoyable and worthwhile day.
We’re looking forward to bringing Skill Share events back in 2027, with plans to make them a regular early-season fixture in the CAI calendar.
