Saturday 3 May

Malahide Yacht Club (MYC) have a great reputation for welcoming the CAI with open arms and providing their facilities for the CAI to enjoy. This is a great opportunity to socialise, talk the talk, feast and enjoy yourselves. Maybe even bring your voice or instrument for a bit of a seisiún.

As well as MYC and CAI members, cruisers from Howth Yacht Club will participate. You don’t have to come by boat – Malahide DART station is five minutes walk from the club.

MYC Café is open all day Saturday and Sunday for snacks and possibly the best coffee in Malahide! (09:00 to 16:00 in the clubhouse).

On Saturday, assemble at the Safe Water Mark (SWM) at 13:00 for a short cruise to Lambay Island. Join the rest of the flotilla at anchor off Lambay Island from 14:30 to 15:30 for a picnic lunch, then return to Malahide Marina by 17:00. Malahide boats will enjoy their usual cruiser racing before joining the fleet.

A barbecue dinner will be served at the club from 18:00 by the regular chef.

On Sunday, spend the day exploring Malahide or taking a guided tour of the castle. Return to the clubhouse by 16:30 for CAI’s annual cooking competition ‘Cook Your Hearts Out‘. When the nine competitors have cooked their meals you may sample them and vote for your favourites. At 18:30 the judges will present their comments, announce the winners and award prizes.

Stay and enjoy the rest of the evening, or head south on the ebb tide.

Public Transport: if you’re planning to go by public transport, be aware that the southside DART service is suspended all weekend. Details on the Irish Rail website.
