Talk by GBSC member and boat builder Dan Mill

This week Galway Bay Sailing Club is hosting a most interesting talk with Dan Mill. Dan is a New Zealander boat builder who followed his then girlfriend Deborah to Galway. Deborah was a good friend of club members Joan and Eamonn Stewart and so Dan with his experience was told to contact a few people in GBSC to see if there was any prospect of some boat building or repair work.

Club Commodore John Shorten is hosting this on Zoom and he has invited The Cruising Association of Ireland to join the club for this occasion, following on from our successful joint event with Cormac McDonncha’s presentation to CAI last week of his 27 boat cruise to L’Orient in 2019.
Dan came sailing on Wednesday evenings and joined John Killeen on “Nimmo “( now known as “Now What” sailed by Barry Heskin and Co). This was in 2001 and Dan showed he was a lot more than a shipwright and takes up the story from there on Friday night next, so be sure to join in.
Dan is a wealth of knowledge as you will see and is currently building some beautiful timber boats in Kilrush Co.Clare when he is not sailing with his kids at Renville.

It should be a great evening and CAI members are invited to join – ZOOM details will be sent to all CAI members this week by email.
