Yachts sailing away from a coast

Summer Cruise 2026 – Initial plan

The month of constant rain at the start of 2026 has seen our members dreaming of long sunny days sailing on calm seas and visiting ports and anchorages along our coast.

The CAI committee have been drafting a cruise plan to propose to the members.

The draft will be discussed at the AGM on March 7, at which time any members present will have the opportunity to comment, counter propose and discuss the plan.

The current idea is to gather participants in Crosshaven on the weekend of June 13 and 14. From there, the fleet will sail west on the Monday and call at suitable ports over the following week. Plans for shore activities and meals together are under investigation.

As always, the cruise will be weather dependent, but with the right conditions it is foreseen to round the Mizen and enjoy the attractions of Bantry Bay, including Glengariff and Laurence’s Cove. Some members are already talking about sailing as far as Kenmare Bay and Dingle, but it is expected that due to time demands, many will prefer to start the return East from either Roaring water Bay or Bantry Bay.

We trust that the proposal will attract interest; regardless, your committee welcomes feedback and suggestions from prospective participants.
