In August 2025, CAI hosted a skill share day (we called it “A Day in the Bay”). Six boats and 21 members took part, with seven members acting as mentors and sharing their experience and advice. We started with a full group briefing before going afloat, had lunch together rafted up, and finished with a cold drink at the Royal Irish YC.
Participants enjoyed a group practice session, tackling practical exercises on the water in their own boats but with an experienced mentor aboard. Many participants concentrated on boat handling under power, berthing at a pontoon and departing from a marina berth. Anchoring was another popular topic.
We are building on that experience and running two similar skill share sessions in the first part of the season in 2026. There will be more opportunities to practice skills and share knowledge. From berthing in the marina or anchoring to reefing and MOB drill – we can address whatever you want to work on!
