Old Gaffers visit Dublin

The Old Gaffers Association* was formed in 1963, and the organisation is marking its Diamond Jubilee in style. The main activity is the Round Britain Cruise starting and finishing on the East coast of England.

Dublin is one of the ‘party ports’, and last weekend the Dublin Bay Old Gaffers gave the fleet a warm welcome supported by Poolbeg Yacht and Boat Club, Dublin Port and others.

A key part of the festivities was a parade of boats in the river Liffey similar to the Three Bridges Cruise we organise every September. Sadly the Samuel Becket Bridge failed to open again.

Our Summer Cruise North will take some of us to the Inner Hebrides and we’ll be in Oban, another ‘party port’, at the same time as the Round Britain Cruise fleet. We hope to join them in some of their activities.
