Club Night Talk – Grace O’Malley

In the vacuum following the sudden loss of Asgard II many successors were proposed and discussed, and widely differing views have been expressed in the debate. One group of enthusiasts formed the Atlantic Youth Trust and bought a boat that they hope will become Ireland’s flagship sail training vessel under the name Grace O’Malley.

She is a modern steel sailing ship that has operated in Scandinavia for many years, currently named Lady Ellen. The trust undertook some refurbishment and brought her to Ireland this summer, where she visited the major ports.

Her skipper Captain Gerry Burns will tell us about the boat, the passage to Ireland and the project on Wednesday 7 December at 19:30. This is one of our regular Club Night Talks on Zoom; details are on the Discussion Forums page.
