Bank Holiday Cruise 2024

This year we’re returning to Carlingford Lough for the long weekend, and we’ll take advantage of midday tides to visit Newry as well.

Members in the Dublin area can sail north on Friday to enter the lough at slack water in the late afternoon. Leaving on Monday early or at lunchtime will get you home for work.

We considered visiting the Isle of Man, but such a trip doesn’t fit so well into a long weekend.

Plan

The fleet will assemble in Carlingford Marina on Friday 2 August. LW slack is at about 17:30, a good time to enter the Lough. We’ll dine together in Fishy Dishy in Carlingford at 20:30.

On Saturday 3 August we shall cruise in company past Warrenpoint through Victoria Lock into the Newry Canal up to Albert Basin in the town centre where we shall spend the night. Since it’s an open public quay we shouldn’t leave all the boats unattended at the same time, so we haven’t arranged group activities.

We’ll pay the harbour master berthing fees for the whole fleet in advance, and collect money from participants. Please buy a ‘Berthing Fee’ at the bottom of this page. Note that the berthing fee covers a stay of up to one week.

On Sunday 4 August we retrace our route to Carlingford Marina and spend Sunday night there.

On Monday 5 August the fleet will disperse to home ports.

Details are subject to change, so come back here for the latest information.
